I made a few things for Groundhog Day. I was thinking about how groundhogs “predict” the weather, so I made this prediction activity.
6 short stories for making predictions. You could use the center format (laminating the story cards) or the worksheet version where the story and writing space is on the same page.

There is a nonfiction reading passage about groundhogs along with these comprehension activities.
This is something I love to do as a whole class or small group. I write a vowel in the middle (or you could write a vowel pair or bossy r,) and I put magnets on the back of the letters. Students can take turns “popping up” to read the words.
